Chapel Allerton Labour Party - Branch Meeting
2024-10-15 19:15:00 - 2024-10-15 21:00:00
We are delighted to welcome our guest speakers Lucinda Yeadon and Jimm Reed, who will help us explore how the new government can deliver the homes and infrastructure needed to kickstart economic growth and enable our communities to flourish.
Lucinda has a long track record of leadership in our city having been a Labour Councillor for Kirkstall Ward for a decade and serving as Deputy Leader of Leeds City Council for 3 years. In 2022, Lucinda was made an Honorary Alderman of the City of Leeds. She now leads the social impact programme for CEG - a property investment company who are developing land in Leeds' South Bank and Kirkstall Forge to provide much needed homes and workspaces. She is particularly keen to ensure these developments help young people to access training, apprenticeships and employment opportunities, as has been done at CEG’s Forging Futures Campus.
Jimm is the Development Director of Leeds Community Homes - an organisation that helps create housing that is people-powered and community-led. He was the project manager for 2 celebrated community led housing projects in our city: LILAC in Bramley and Chapeltown Cohousing (ChaCo) in our own ward. Over the last 15 years, Jimm has supported community housing projects across the UK and helped fostered a growing movement of ordinary people creating their own affordable, sustainable homes.
Whether it's your first time, or you're a longstanding member, we would love to see you on Tuesday for what will be a fascinating evening. Straight after the meeting we will head to the The Three Hulats (Wetherspoons), 13 Harrogate Road, LS7 3NB (next to Lidl) for a drink - everyone is welcome and lifts can be provided for anyone who needs one.
